3b. Rules - Experience Points

Experience Points (XP) are the rewards a student earns for completing lesson activities and encounters.

The primary use of XP is to increase the Traits of their Hero, so that the Hero is better able to succeed in future encounters.

XP can be given as awards for completing classwork, adhering to classroom rules and behaviour guidelines, etc. See the sections on Missions and Quests, and Encounters for guidelines on using XP with learning activities.

When using XP to increase a Hero's Traits, there are varied costs depending on the nature of the trait being increased. Each trait can only be increase by one Rating Point at a time. For example, if a Hero has a Trait with a rating of 2, the student must spend the points required to increase it to 3, and then spend the points again required to increase it to 4. Students could not just spend the points required to increase from rating 2 to 4, unless they also have the points to raise form 2 to 3 as well.
